The important qualities of a good son or daughter

Hello There!

Usually, the earlier the people were born the more and harder time they had to go through. For example, back to 70s, there was no high-tech entertainment devices for anyone like CD-music player, internet, video games, computer, iPhone, indoor & outdoor activities, and not every family could afford to own a TV at that time, …., etc. But, the more life challenging for some people is when they were around 10 years old, they had to quit school for selling household items on streets for helping their families.

Usually, the later the people were born the better quality of their lives can be. For example, he was born on 2011 and now is he 10 years old. He can have all kinds of high-tech entertainment devices, plus he can also receive a $K allowance weekly or monthly, no need to take public transportation due to parents are having car(s), and travel annually, …, etc.

No matter what we had gone through. No matter how our world is constantly changing. And no matter how old and how young our parents are. The important qualities of a good son or daughter are always remain the same.

For examples:
  1. Obey your parents in silence, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.
  2. Be honest with your parents, honest is above everything else.
  3. After your parents do something for you, please show a smile of contentment.
  4. Show your dependability to your parents, do what you say you will do. If you make a commitment, live up to it.
  5. Make your parents to admire your patience with them, taking time to listen and ask questions with a positive attitude.
  6. Show a clear conscience & compassion to your parents, if possible, help around elderly people and unfortunate people.
  7. Show your self-discipline by counting down, then take action.
  8. Show your love to your parents by giving them your undivided attention.
  9. Show your respect to your parents by making them your priority and consider their point of views.
  10. Look after all the needs of your parents.
  11. Whenever possible, please show an expression of filial piety to your parents.
  12. And so on…
Why do we have to do all of the above? It is because our parents have always been giving us an infinite unconditional love which is incomparable to any other kind of love. Our parents love us for who we are, no matter what. And our parents not just hoping to see we are growing healthy, happy but loved by all as we enter into our society.

10 typical ways that parents show love for their children every day (from the internet):

1. Putting food on the table and a roof overhead.
Making sure that a child’s basic needs are met is a major expression of love. For some parents throughout the world, it’s also one that is not always easy to accomplish.
2. Making sacrifices.
Putting a child’s needs before your own sometimes means putting your wants, needs and desires on the back burner – indefinitely.
3. Willingness to change and adapt.
Flexibility is key to being a parent. Perspectives and ways of doing things are often challenged. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to raising a healthy, happy child.
4. Always being on call.
Parents don’t punch a time clock; they are always on duty. Even when a child is grown and living on his or her own, a parent’s job is never done.
5. Providing protection from outside dangers.
Parental responsibility includes always aiming to keep a child safe from harm.
6. Teaching life skills.
One day, your child will leave the nest. A parent’s job in raising a child is to prepare the child for that day.
7. Supporting a child’s interests and dreams.
In most cases, if something is important to your child, even if you don’t understand why, it is important that your child has your full, unquestioning support.
8. Wanting to hear about what’s happening in a child’s life.
Your child is your world, your everything. Simply hearing about your child’s day can be rewarding.
9. Being a child’s biggest cheerleader.
You are your child’s number one fan, and are often quick to tell other people just how amazing your child is.
10. Always keeping a child’s best interest at heart.
You want what is best for your child, with no ulterior motive. Because of that, you always try to provide unbiased support and advice.
Another way that a parent shows love for a child is by putting money aside for the child’s future, such as by purchasing a savings bond or opening a savings account in the child’s name. Some parents also buy a children’s whole life insurance policy, such as the Gerber Life Grow-Up® Plan, to help protect a child should the unthinkable happen to a parent, and to help provide greater financial security for child’s future.

My conclusion is that we are born neither good nor bad. We are good people because of our parents' efforts to make us grow into a good man or woman. So, please cherish every moment when we are interacting with our parents before we can only find this moment from our memory.
